While doing the interview, we observed some barriers that lead to our miscommunication and misunderstanding. The barriers that we observed are physical barriers, psychological barriers and external noises that Verderber classified in 1991.
Physical barriers is one of the barriers that we observed because it is the natural or environmental condition that act as a barrier in our communication. Our sorrounding while doing the interview was loud, there are students talking too loud and the noise from the workers working at the front of english building since the location of the interview we did was in english building.
The other barrier that we observed was psychological barrier, also known as mental barrier. It is the social and personal issues of ruby ann (speaker) towards communicating with ma'am charizz. I can sense that ruby ann is nervous and shy while reading the questions since this is the first time ever time we encountered ma'am charizz.
The last one barrier that we observed was the external noises that Verderber stated. It is the sight, sound and other stimuli that affects communication. From the singing of students, noises from vehicles and the students walking along the hallway is one of the external barrier that we observed.
But even though these barriers affects us from communicating, we managed to do the interview because of the 7 C's, clearness, conciseness, concreteness, correctness, completeness, courtesy and consideration. We successfully delivered the message and successfully received the message because we focused and put effort of listening ma'am charizz's answers. Because in order to have a successful conversation, you must have to follow the 7 C's even though there are so many barriers that can affect the conversation.
To conclude, communication barriers come in various forms and can block the smooth flow of information. To tackle these issues, it's important to be aware, listen carefully, speak clearly, and be sensitive to cultural differences.
